1) How did you come to start bead weaving?
I remember having a beading loom when I was 10yrs old.  Stringing seed beads on elastic around 12yrs old.  Then I discovered Bead & Button Mag,  I think in it's second year of publication.  And Beadwork.  And the ads for mail order.  I bought my first computer 10 yrs ago and got online.

2) What is the most favorite piece you have done and why is it your favorite? What technique(s) did you use?

The lizard is my favorite piece.  Because it taught me alot about tension and improvising with what you have.  Peyote stitch and fringe in a mock split-loom design (Suzanne Cooper).






3) How much time to you dedicate to your bead work?
As much as possible, most free time.

4) What inspires you?
My mood and the weather. Color.  I also beadweave for my sanity, I like the repetitiveness and rhythm.  

5) What other things do you enjoy doing?
I crochet when the humidity is low (winter). 

6) Tell us more about yourself:
I live in Florida, I'm 40-something, married, no kids just brats - a dog, 2 cats, a fish.  And I'm working on becoming the crazy-old-beading-cat lady ..... :)

ONLY Challenge of the Year

This Challenge is not mandatory, nor will it count towards the 'Rules'. This is is just to spur some excitement on! I have been sitting here thinking about what we could do and since the holidays are quickly approaching, I though a 'Holiday Challenge' would be in order. Just think of it as another item to sell and list in your shop for the season. This is basically just a color scheme. Let's do a 'Silver and Gold' challenge in accordance to the famous holiday song from Burl Ives ~'Silver and Gold'

You may start now and please have it done by Thanksgiving. I do know this is short notice, but it can be a simple piece, earrings, pendant or as elaborate as you like. Please make something new, nothing you have previously done.

Please email me with the link to your Studio where the piece is listed when you are done and I will post everything on the blog on 'Black Friday'. Thanks so much! Have fun!!

Hope everyone survived Monday, generally the most grueling day of the week! I have added a 'logo' to the right of this post. For those of you who are proud members, you may use this on your blog, it links to the ArtFire Beadweaver's Guild. If you are a seed beader and would like to commit to the Guild, just click on the image to take you right there to apply. I also ask for those applying that they include the link to their ArtFire page so we may review your shop before approval.

For those of you already in the Guild, I will be sending out a letter shortly and I would appreciate your reply. We have a few new members already. I will make announcement of the new shops tomorrow and add them to our blogroll , asap.

Growing Pains

HI Everyone! Welcome to ArtFire Beadweaver's Guild. We are working on some changes here on the blog and on ArtFire. We will be doing a big push in the next few days for members with monthly features and quarterly challenges. Bear with us as we go through a few growing pains.
